I have Nano'd in the past, but often the timing isn't quite right. Well, the timing this November isn't great with Becca and I hustling to get the next Thesaurus book written, yet I'm taking the plunge anyway! Why? Because I've been revising, revising, revising, and now I'm ready to do some creating. I have this idea about shadow children and a school photographer who isn't human, and the idea won't let go. So, what better chance to sit down and get the story out than NANOWRIMO?
Because Becca recognizes (and probably fears) my special brand of insanity, she's totally cool with me going dark here at the blog for November. And, because she loves to encourage people as much as I do, we're offering a juicy, book-a-licious carrot to Nanowrimo Participants.
*DRUM ROLL*
Becca and I are giving away 10 digital copies of The Emotion Thesaurus: A Writer's Guide To Character Expression to participants (and winners) of Nanowrimo this year!
So, strap on your tinfoil hat and join the November Writing Spree! Set up a profile at NANOWRIMO and then fill out this fast form below...it's that easy. And, if your name is drawn and you happen to own a copy already, you can gift your prize to someone else! Christmas is coming, so why not play Santa?
(CLICK TO ENTER!)
While I'm off writing this next month, make sure to stop in! Lots of cool stuff is going on as Becca We would love to make sure as many NANOers find out about this contest as possible, so we'll showcase a link in the sidebar until the end of November. People can feel free to sign up any time! And if you guys would be willing to share this giveaway with any Nano groups you're with or on Facebook, Twitter, etc, we would be eternally grateful! :)
So, will you be joining the insanity? Let me know in the comments!

I've almost made the decision to try it for the second time - will come back once I've actually signed up to NaNo!
Good luck to you, Angela, and what a nice gift! I'm still on the fence about NaNo - the idea I have may still be too soft and squishy and unformed to properly work with yet. We'll see.
Good luck Angela. It sounds like a great story. I've never done NaNo. It doesn't work for me with a full-time job and my daughter keeping me so busy. But I plan to focus on writing more, whether it be my new manuscript or getting organized for querying after the first of the year.
I'm not doing it this year, but GREAT idea. I've shared it on FB and Twitter :)
Busy editing this year, but had fun a couple years ago doing this!! I encourage everyone to try, it's a great motivator. Good luck to all who enter the contest!!
OH! I am so in for this. I have an unfinished manuscript that I am working on. I just received edits back not too long ago from my editor and HAVE to get into the groove. I've also been fighting pain in my neck/shoulder/upper back that is finally not giving me a lot of pain during the day. So count me in! I so need to finish this for publication!
But I don't need the thesaurus...I already have it on my kindle :)
All right, you inspired me! Along with my writer chicks at Rose City Romance Writers in Portland OR.
I'm in for the first time, to write the first book in my new red hot space opera series!
I'm doing NaNo for the first time this year. Good luck! I'll be cheering you on! I'll add you as a buddy on the site. :)
This is my fourth year participating in NaNo. I can't imagine not participating in it. And that's awesome you're giving 10 lucky NaNoers a copy of the Emotion Thesaurus!
Great to see so many people entering Nano this year! I know Nano helped me write my first full length novel, and showed me that I could do it. I will always love Nano for that boost of confidence it gave me! :)
This is a terrific idea and you can be sure I'll post it in my FB NaNo group!! You guys are the best!! :)
Saw this via Bullish NaNo group, what a great idea & your story sounds fab. Will post via FB & twitter :)
I'm in this year. Just finishing up a proposal for my agent so greating timing for Nano! Choice of two projects. Hmmm, best figure it out quick!!
Great idea on your book giveaway. I bought both versions already and am eagerly waiting for your next book to come out.
You are both stars! Will tweet about this.
Definitely sharing this for you! I already have my own copy of The Emotion Thesaurus (yay!) so I won't enter. Plus, I fear that NaNo might be the straw that breaks my back this year. I am so swamped right now, I'm considering having a break-down except that I don't have time for it. ;P
Thanks for the giveaway, Angela!
NaNoWriMo insanity? I'm definitely in. It will be my third year participating in the challenge and I'm looking forward to getting to work on my novel. :)
Great giveaway!
Oh, Angela! What fun! I've been dying to participate in NaNoWriMo for ages, but you know, timing. I'm in no position to even think about it this year (you know, I'm having a baby this November and I'm in my last semester of school...slightly preoccupied), but I'm so excited to watch my friends' progress. Please keep us all posted to how you're doing!
thats an awesome super terrific prize! yes, i still need one & since i cant win one i will break down & buy it!
good luck nanoers!
I'm doing NaNo this year!
Retweeted and Google+d your post.
Good luck Angela and other NaNoWrimo-ers. I am attempting it this year and have NO idea if this is a good idea or not as I work almost full time, have 3 kids, and have NEVER written anything on this scale before. Should be interensting!
E
Wild, that's where the 'Crazy' comes into it, LOL! I'm rooting for you!!
Thanks everyone for sharing this online wand with your local NANO GROUPS. the more who enter, the better!
Angela
Kudos to all who participate that is quite a challenge. The gift is certainly a good one.
I've always wanted to do NaNo, but November's a terrible month for me, with Thanksgiving and two family birthdays. I keep saying I want to do it another month, on my own if need be; maybe next year is the year.
Good luck, everyone! I'll definitely be cheering you all on!
Good luck with the NaNo. It's a lot of work, but I'm sure you can do it!
I will. My screen name there is kholoblicin if you want to add me to your buddy list.
I am not a NaNo person, but I joined PiBoIdMo 2012. That is a challenge for picture book writers for the month of November. You can find out about it on my site, if anyone is interested. Good luck to everyone.
All the best, Angela.
I be waiting for you to surface in December.
This makes NaNo even more enticing! Too awesome. You ladies rock.
Yes! I'm a first time NaNo'er. So looking forward to the challenge!
I did NaNoWriMo last year and had a blast doing it. I learned so much about myself... and made the 50K five days early! I'm definitely excited to do it again this year, especially with this added incentive! (and if I don't win your contest, I'll probably be buying the book anyway!)
Two words for this: awe. some. You two are the best!
That's a very helpful book!
An excellent way to help kick off NaNo!
Dear god, 50,000?! I thought it was "only" 30,000. Sheesh. Shows what I know. It's not like I was going to attempt it anyway. With working 6 days a week, a baby hungry wife, and Skyrim (yes in that order) I don't have near the time/devotion. However, if there are those in need of worldbuilding assistance to flesh out the background must-haves for NaNoWriMo, please head over to my blog and drop me a line. I live to serve/build.
I love NaNo - just finished Camp NaNo in August & I'm pretty sure I'll be doing NaNo in a few days too. (report card season will NOT be helping me however...) See ya there!
Saw your post on WANATribe - I'm in! This will be my second time participating - like you, the timing's not usually right but this year it is. The Emotion Thesaurus is on my TBB list - what a great prize!
Yep I've decided to join the madness for the first time...I'm almost positive I won't hit 50k but my whole goal is to actually have one story past the halfway point, lol. I'm freaking out though, it has me so nervous but I'm not sure if there is anymore I can do to prepare.
Good luck!! It's bound to be exciting. This is my first year participating as well and I'm thrilled. I can't wait for November 1st!!
Yay! Thanks so much for the give-away, Angela, and best of luck this month!
Saw this on AW so here I am! I'm like you Angelia, been revising and editing, but non-fiction history stuff. I need some pantster noveling for a change of pace. (I've got 2 out of 3 wins under my belt. I have a lot going on and wasn't going to but my teens said, "Do it anyway, mom!" So how can I not with that kind of support?
I'm in! What a great contest! Thanks, Rochelle the Write Now! Coach and author of Write-A-Thon
Woo hooo! I entered, even though maybe I already entered. I honestly don't remember!!!
